Apostille for a birth certificate
A birth certificate used abroad usually needs an apostille — an internationally recognized certificate that verifies it's genuine so authorities in another country will accept it. It's typically required for dual citizenship, visas, and registering a birth abroad.

Good to know about apostilling a birth certificate
- You'll need a state-issued certified copy from Florida Vital Statistics or the county — hospital “souvenir” certificates and plain photocopies are rejected.
- It's apostilled directly by the Florida Secretary of State; no notarization step is needed.
